The Berlin-based artist Mr. Björn Dahlem roots his sculptural creations not in stability but fragility, an essence that Dahlem believes to be the defining condition of human knowledge. Mr. Dahlem takes complex ideas from astrophysics and philosophy and turns them into art. Some might say that his sculptures and installations begin where our knowledge reaches its limitations. Bureau Borsche worked together with Mr. Dahlem to bring his expansions of the human mind to paper.
Theories des Himmels (The theory of the heavens), a publication by Distanz Verlag, presents a selection from Mr. Dahlem’s oeuvre with a focus on large-scale sculptures and space installations. In dark blue linen with gold embossing the hardcover might appear to be a monograph, but only references Mr. Dahlem’s encyclopedic theories of constellations and connections in compilation with various years of his work. More poetically: it is the blue and gold of Mr. Dahlem’s midnight sky.
